The Beginning and the End of the Holy Bible

Scripture verses are from the four English translations of the Holy Bible:
NKJV = New King James Version.
ESV = English Standard Version.
NIV = New International Version.
KJV = King James Version.

The following is Chapter Two in my book: The New Heaven and The New Earth.

The Holy Bible is an amazing book. Anyone who takes the time to read the Holy Bible will discover that some concepts are taught from the very beginning to the very end of the Bible. This article will take a brief look at one of these very important concepts.

The Beginning of the Holy Bible

Earth Moon and Sun Genesis 1:1-3 NKJV
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
  2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
3 Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light.

Scripture Summary: In the beginning God created everything everywhere. God did this by speaking things into existence. In the beginning God's Words contained infinite eternal power. And God's Words still contain infinite eternal power today.

The first three verses of the Holy Bible are extremely important because they contain the following information about God:
  1. God (Verse 1): God Almighty, or God the Father, is mentioned at the very beginning of the Holy Bible. And God the Father is mentioned throughout the Holy Bible. And God the Father is mentioned at the very end of the Holy Bible.
  2. God's Spirit (Verse 2): God's Spirit, or the Holy Spirit, is mentioned at the very beginning of the Holy Bible. And the Holy Spirit is mentioned throughout the Holy Bible. And the Holy Spirit is mentioned at the very end of the Holy Bible.
  3. The Words of God (Verse 3): The Words of God are mentioned at the very beginning of the Holy Bible. And the Word is mentioned throughout the Holy Bible. And the Word is mentioned at the very end of the Holy Bible.

The Middle of the Holy Bible

The following scripture verses provide more information about the Word of God:

John 1:1-3 NKJV
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 He was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

John 1:14 NKJV
14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us,

Luke 2:11 NKJV
11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

Colossians 1:15–17 NKJV
15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.
16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on the earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.
17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

Scripture Summary: The above scriptures very clearly explain that Jesus Christ is the incarnate Word of God, that He is the image of the invisible God, and that He created everything.

The End of the Holy Bible

Revelation 22:16-21 ESV
16 "I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star."
17 The Spirit and the Bride say, "Come." And let the one who hears say, "Come." And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price.
18 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book,
19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.
20 He who testifies to these things says, "Surely I am coming soon." Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!
21 The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all. Amen.

Scripture Summary: The last few verses at the very end of the Holy Bible mention God, the Holy Spirit, and Jesus Christ who is the incarnate Word of God.

God Refers to Himself as "Us"

Genesis 1:26-27 NKJV
26 Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."
27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Scripture Summary: In the first chapter in the first book of the Holy Bible God refers to Himself as "Us" and "Our image." These words mean more than one. God did not say "I will make" or "My image" which would be singular.

The Holy Bible Explains the Word "Us" as
the Father, the Holy Spirit, and Jesus the Son

Matthew 3:16-17 ESV
16 And when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went up from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him;
17 and behold, a voice from heaven said, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased."

2 Corinthians 13:14 ESV
14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

John 10:30 KJV
30 "I and My Father are one."

Scripture Summary: The above scriptures clearly mention God the Father, God the Holy Spirit, and Jesus the Son. Although God exists in three distinct persons, all three persons of God are One. This is what Jesus meant when He said, "I and my Father are one."

Holy, Holy, Holy

Isaiah 6:1-3 NIV
1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple.
2 Above him were seraphs, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying.
3 And they were calling to one another: "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory."

Revelation 4:6-8 NIV
6 In the center, around the throne, were four living creatures, and they were covered with eyes, in front and in back.
7 The first living creature was like a lion, the second was like an ox, the third had a face like a man, the fourth was like a flying eagle.
8 Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under his wings. Day and night they never stop saying: "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come."

Scripture Summary: In the Old Testament Isaiah saw a vision of heaven and there were seraphs with six wings near the throne of the Lord and they were singing, "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory." In the New Testament the apostle John saw a vision of heaven and there were seraphs with six wings near the throne of the Lord and they were saying, "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come." The seraphs were consistently and eternally repeating the word “holy” three times. One very good reason for repeating the word "holy" three times was to honor God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Conclusion

The beginning of the Holy Bible tells us how God created the entire universe.

The end of the Holy Bible tells us that one day the entire universe will pass away and God will create a new heaven and a new earth where He will dwell with us forever. This information is in the following scripture verses.

Revelation 21:1-3 KJV
1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

The middle of the Holy Bible can be summarized in the following scripture verses.

Matthew 22:37-40 ESV
37 And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.
38 This is the great and first commandment.
39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
40 On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets."
