Introduction

Uncle Henry LB5 Pocketknife In the USA each state has its own laws about knives. Most states limit the length of the blade of a knife that can be legally carried inside your pocket or purse, and this is referred to as concealed carry. Therefore please verify the knife laws in your area before you purchase a knife so that you can avoid breaking those laws.

Due to the constantly increasing number of crimes that are occurring every day in every state in the USA, an intelligent person will always carry some type of pocketknife with them every time that they leave their home.

The knife in the picture on the right is an Uncle Henry LB5 single blade folding pocketknife and it can be purchased on Amazon on October 5, 2024 for $20.97 at the following link:

I do not receive any type of fee or commission if you click on the above link or if you purchase the knife at the above link. The above link is provided for your convenience and for no other reason.

This knife has a single blade that is made of high carbon stainless steel. The blade should not rust and it should retain its very sharp cutting edge for a very long time. This knife only has one blade and a single blade is highly recommended for emergency self-defense. The blade has a clip point which is the best design for emergency self-defense and for most normal cutting operations.

The blade is 2.8 inches long and the knife has a 3.5 inch long handle. When fully opened the knife is a total of 6.5 inches (16.5 mm) long.

The blade has been factory sharpened and the blade is extremely sharp. Therefore please be careful when you open the blade so that you do not accidentally cut yourself.

It requires two hands to open the knife. Grasp the exposed part of the blade between the thumb and the first two fingers of the left hand and then use your right hand to rotate the handle away from the blade. This would put the handle of the open knife in the right hand which is desirable for a right-handed person. When the blade is fully open it locks into the open position.

It requires both hands to close the knife. Apply pressure with your right thumb on the locking mechanism on the back side of the knife near the bottom of its handle and then use the thumb and the first two fingers of your left hand to carefully lower the blade back down into its handle. This would put the handle of the closed knife in the right hand of a right-handed person. A man or a woman should be able to activate the locking mechanism using normal pressure. The locking mechanism works smoothly and it does not bind or require heavy pressure to use it.

The handle thickness is 5/16 inch and the knife only weighs 3.1 ounces. This means the knife can be easily carried in your pocket or purse.

The handle has a very smooth minor curve and all four fingers and your thumb can firmly grasp the handle so that your entire hand has control of the knife (unless you have really big hands). This is extremely important for a knife that may be needed for emergency self-defense.

The knife comes with a leather sheath carrying case that can be snapped closed and it has a leather belt loop on the back of the case. This means you could carry the knife in its sheath on your waist belt if you desired. However, I prefer to carry my knife in the pocket of my pants.

This is the knife that I carry in my pocket whenever I leave my home to go to the grocery store or shopping or other places where it is legal to carry a knife. It is the perfect size and weight for pocket carry.

However, if I am going for a walk into a wooded area that has wild animals then I carry a more substantial knife.

If our nation continues to slide down into total chaos then I would carry a more substantial knife on my person at all times including when I am at home. I would carry a fixed blade hunting knife with a 6 inch blade. Or I would carry the folding pocketknife that is described in the following link on my website. However, the following knife does weigh 8.25 ounces.

Self-Defense Knife.

You should not voluntarily hand your knife to another person because the other person could then use your knife against you.
If someone politely asks to see your knife then you should politely say, "My knife is very important to me and I never let anyone see or handle my knife."
If the person asks to see your knife again then politely say, "I have already said no and my answer is not going to change for any reason."
The above response is also appropriate if someone asks to see your handgun or rifle.

Respectfully,
Grandpappy.
