Prepare or Perish

Rainbow Over the Waters If Noah had not obeyed God and built a huge ark using pitch and wood,
Then he, his family, and all the animals would have perished in the flood.

If Joseph had not stored extra food during the seven years of prosperity,
then Egypt would have perished during the seven years of adversity.

A prudent person will prepare for a "rainy day" or some other calamity,
but a foolish man will do nothing and he will perish during a catastrophe.

Sun over an Egyptian Pyramid Jesus told a parable about five girls who had oil and five who did not.
Jesus said the five wise girls had plenty but the five foolish girls ran out.

God also loves the birds of the air and all the birds are precious to Him.
But the birds must hunt for their food - God does not take food to them.

It is easy to say "I trust God" and then use that as an excuse to do naught,
but it is better to "obey God" and be like Noah and prepare as you ought.

Reference Scripture Verses

Genesis 6:11-14 - Now the earth was corrupt in God's sight and was full of violence. God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways. So God said to Noah, "I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth. So make yourself an ark of cypress wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out."
Genesis 7:5-10 - And Noah did all that the LORD commanded him. Noah was six hundred years old when the floodwaters came on the earth. And Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons' wives entered the ark to escape the waters of the flood. Pairs of clean and unclean animals, of birds and of all creatures that move along the ground, male and female, came to Noah and entered the ark, as God had commanded Noah. And after the seven days the floodwaters came on the earth.

Genesis 41:29-30 - Seven years of great abundance are coming throughout the land of Egypt, but seven years of famine will follow them. Then all the abundance in Egypt will be forgotten, and the famine will ravage the land.
Genesis 41;35-36 - They should collect all the food of these good years that are coming and store up the grain under the authority of Pharaoh, to be kept in the cities for food. This food should be held in reserve for the country, to be used during the seven years of famine that will come upon Egypt, so that the country may not be ruined by the famine.

Proverbs 27:12 - The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it.

Matthew 25:1-13 - "At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish and five were wise. The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. The wise, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps. The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep.
"At midnight the cry rang out: 'Here's the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!'
"Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. The foolish ones said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.'
" 'No,' they replied, 'there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.'
"But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut.
"Later the others also came. 'Sir! Sir!' they said. 'Open the door for us!'
"But he replied, 'I tell you the truth, I don't know you.'
"Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour."

Matthew 10:29 - Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father.

Luke 12:24 - Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them.

2 Thessalonians 3:10 - For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: "If a man will not work, he shall not eat."

James 1:22 - Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
